Every year, 2nd April is marked as World Autism Awareness Day (WAAD) after December 18, 2007, when the United Nations General Assembly adopted resolution 62/139, proposed by the State of Qatar, declaring April 2 to be celebrated as World Autism Awareness Day (WAAD) every year.
Since then, World Autism Awareness Day is celebrated across the globe with an objective to create awareness in all level of society through various events and campaigns
According to the UN resolution, WAAD as one of only four official health-specific United Nations Days engaged in brining attention of the entire world on the spreading range of autism that affects tens of millions with the highest rate of prevalence among the children that leads to consequent developmental challenges.
