Prime Minister Manmohan Singh met with the German President Joachim Gauck before leaving Berlin on Friday after competition of his three-days visit. PM has called this visit "successful" and "fruitful" as it saw the signing of 6 agreements and a strong commitment to conclude an India-EU free trade pact.
The meeting between the two leaders took place in the Bellevue Palace, the office of the German President.
Both leaders are said to have discussed issues of mutual importance to the two countries during their meeting.
During his visit PM, accompanied by five of his cabinet colleagues, took part in the inter-governmental consultations and agreed to enhance cooperation in different sectors including, education, green energy and science and technology.
A senior official who is a part of the delegation said the visit was very "fruitful" and "successful".
"The Indo-German cooperation opens up excellent prospects for developing both countries to the benefit of their peoples," the leaders of the two countries said in a joint statement after the inter-governmental meet on Thursday.
On Thursday, India and Germany inked six key MoUs, including that for putting together Euro seven million for next four years towards joint research in the field of higher education and a pact for a soft loan of Euro one billion for strengthening the green energy corridor.
The signing of the Joint Declaration of Intent for development of Green Energy Corridors in India, Prime Minister said could be a milestone in the shared commitment to address 21stcentury challenges in the field of environment.
"Germany and India share the view that new initiatives in the area of trade, bilateral investment, energy, energy security, the environment, culture, education, training, research, technology and defense can catalyze and activate the great potential of their bilateral ties," the statement further read.
The prime minister is expected to reach New Delhi at 10.45 p.m. (India time).
