Indian team has won the 2nd test match of Border-Gavaskar trophy against Australia played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal, Hyderabad.
India won the match by an inning.
India now leads the four test match series by 2-0.
With this loss, Australia has become the first team to lose by an innings after declaring there first innings closed. Australian team even failed to put together as many runs as Pujara and Vijay did.
Cheteshwar Pujara has been awarded man of the match for his 204 runs.
Michael Clarke (Australian Captain) said, "India deserve a lot of credit. They outplayed us in every facet of the game. The batsmen haven't put enough runs on, and there is no excuse for that. There will be a lot of hard work, I can assure you".
M.S. Dhoni (India Captain) said, " Pujara and Vijay massive partnership gave us the freedom to accelerate yesterday. It was very important to not give their seamers wickets, and I think they saw that period off really well. After that they could dictate terms. Very good bowling performance. It was important to start today's play really well, and Ishant gave us the important breakthrough. Credit goes to the team and the support staff."
Australians playing first declared at 237 with Clarke making the highest runs 91. With Sehwag gone quickly Vijay (167) and Pujara (204) put one of the highest partnerships for any wicket and India put a formidable score of 503 runs in their first innings.
On the 4th day Australians couldn't stand the spinners of India and kept loosing wickets. Ashwin did most of the damage by taking 5 wickets. Jadega again bold Clarke and took 2 more wickets.
3rd Test match between India and Australia will be played at Punjab C.A. Stadium, Mohali from Marchh 14, 2013 to March 18, 2013.
