India clinched the first cricket Test against Australia comfortably by eight-wicket victory and takes a 1-0 lead in the series with Australia. However the victory the script for the victory had been written in the first innings especially with the double century by Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Viran Kohli. Now India has taken a comfortable 1-0 lead in the series.
India achieved the target of 50, losing two wickets in the second innings to beat Australia by eight wickets before lunch on the final day of the first cricket Test at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium here Tuesday.
Sachin Tendulkar remained unbeaten on 13, assisted by two big sixes, and Cheteshwar Pujara on 8.
Earlier, Australia was all out for 241 in the second innings. Moises Henriques remained unbeaten on 81 and Nathan Lyon (11) was dismissed by left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja, who finished with three for 72.
Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni got the man of the match award for his glorious performance. The performance by Indian Ravichandran Ashwin remained also remarkable when he took 12 wickets in match.
It is noted that Australia, resuming at 232 for nine, added just nine runs before being packed up in 30 minutes. It has made 380 run in first innings where as India made glorious 572 with double ton by Dhoni and century by Viran Kohli.
