Day 2 of Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week saw designs of 11 fashion designers, which is being held in Hall No. 18 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. Many Bollywood celebrities like Pallavi Sharda who was the showstopper for Samant Chauhan, and Gulshan Grover who was his guest attended the show.
Gaurav Jai Gupta kick started Day 2 with his collection "Akaaro", which is taken from a Sanskrit letter 'a'. All the fabrics used were developed using natural materials. His collection has taken reference from Nuns, Missionaries of Charity and Portrait of an Old Woman by Hans Memling.
Paromita Banerjee collection was named "Safed Rang Part 2", celebrating all things in color and techni-color. His designs included Zari in silhouettes like the Ghera Jama of Mughals and Kalidaris. Hand woven checks from Mangalgiri from South of India and Khadi from West Bengal showed the black-white mixture. Former Miss India Kanishtha Dhankar walked on the ramp for her.
Shivan and Narresh collection explored the negative shades of body art. The Spatial canvases in monochromes were coupled with lemon tints in brazen resort wear. Their swim wears were mixed with lacerated signature maillots, bikinis and trikinis. Resort wear and Swimwear showed the Fontan's work, loop knotting, Newprene Lehenga, Latex bralet and Wedding Sari.
Manish Gupta named his collection "Carved Desires", which was an exquisite collection displaying the Baroque and Mughal artworks. His designed showed the use of sheer hand cutwork and velvet yarns. Colors he included in his design were myriad pastel shades, soft yellow, light grey, soft aqua, peach, sand and lime.
Pia Pauro, Samant Chauhan, Pankaj & Nidhi, Ankur & Priyanka Modi, were the other designers who showed their collection on Day 2.
Rahul Mishra concluded the show with his redefined sports and traditional wear. His collection displayed the mixt of east and west of India, which included Rustic Khadi Jamdani from West Bengal and Bandhani from Bhuj. Colors he included in his designs were corals, oranges, Indigo, conbalt Blues and Classic Black. He fused Hand-woven textiles with New chic Cuts and Technical textiles best suited to enjoy Summers.
WIFW - Spring Summer 2014 is being held from October 9 to October 13, 2013. It is the 22nd edition of WIFW. 115 leading and upcoming designers from across the country are taking part in the show.
160 designer stalls are being exhibited in Pragati Maidan. This fashion show is Asia's biggest fashion trade event, which provides a platform for both established and young talented designers.
