Government has upgraded the quality of life of people in Delhi: Prof. Kiran Walia

Prof. Kiran Walia Minister of Social Welfare, Women & Child Development has said that her proactive efforts have changed the face of Delhi. Now you can see Delhi as a well developed Delhi-the capital city with multi-faceted development with numerous facilities for the people. She expressed her view during laying foundation of a Hostel for Visually challenged college girls at Timarpur in North Delhi.

The Hostel will accommodate about 100 visually challenged college going girls. The Hostel Building will be developed in the 3752 sq.mtr. area. The Hostel will cater the need of such college going girls of the nearby Delhi University. The function was organized by the Department of Social Welfare, Govt. of NCT of Delhi. Director (SW), Achla Singh and other officers of the government were also present on the occasion.

Prof. Walia, laying foundation stone of the Hostel said that the Govt. of Delhi is doing its best to avail facilities to all sections of the society.

Prof. Walia said that we have upgraded the quality of life of people in Delhi. For youth, the Govt. has opened 25 Universities and Institutions for providing better opportunities to the youth for availing higher education. Indira Gandhi Technical University, India’s 1st Technical University for women in Delhi is open new opportunities to the women for availing higher education.

Prof. Walia said that we have recently laid the foundation stone for a big home for mentally challenged persons at Narela to facilitate and accommodate 1200 mentally challenged persons with the estimated cost of Rs.150 crores, apart from opening Asha Deep (a mal unit) of the Home for 200 adults.

Prof. Walia said that Delhi Govt. is going ahead with the sole motive of continuous progress of the capital and you can see the glimpse of development everywhere.
