The Country's highest civilian awards Padma Awards for year 2013 has been declared on the eve of 64th Republic Day. There are three categories of Padma Awards - Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri - delivered every year to those who have done excellent work in their respective fields like arts and culture, science and medicines, games, cinema and entertainment, social works, politics and peace etc.
Padma Vibhushan - Country's second highest civilian awards for year 2013 have been conferred to four eminent personalities including Raghunath Mohapatra (Orissa), S Haider Raza (Delhi) (both for their implausible performance in the fields of Arts), Prof. Yash Pal (Noida), Prof. Roddam Narasimha (Karnataka) (both for their incredible achievements in the fields of Science and Engineering).
Country's third highest Civilian Awards - Padma Bhushan - was conferred to 24 renowned personalities including cricketer Rahul Dravid, Boxer M C Mary Kom, Late Rajesh Khanna, Sharmila Tagore, Later comedian Jaspal Singh Bhatti, and film maker Dr. Ramanaidu Dagubatti.
Country's highest civilian award 'Bharat Ratna' has not been given to anybody for this year too. Last Bharat Ratna was given to eminent classical singer Pandit Bhimsen Joshi in 2008.
Country's fourth highest civilian award - Padma Shri - has been conferred to 80 persons including London Olympic silver medallist shooter Vijay Kumar, bronze medal winning wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt, para athlete Hosanagara Nagarajegowda Girisha, boxer Ngangom Dingko Singh, mountaineer Premlata Agrawal, and rower Bajrang Lal Takhar.
