Rahul Kumar Pal, the winner of 10,000 meter race in Bangalore this year, won the 5th Airtel Delhi Half Marathon race in Indian Male category who finished at 16th in overall Sunday morning.
Rahul, who was running his second marathon finished the race in one hour six minutes and twelve seconds.
"I have already run in Lucknow half marathon and this is my second race. I am just 22 years of age, and I am the runner of 10,000 metre, I am very happy with my performance," Rahul said in the press conference held after the race.
"There were lots of competitors including last year's champion Suresh Kumar, Kheta Ram and Dangi V L, I didn't know that I can win this race," he added.
Suresh Kumar, Kheta Ram, and Dangi V L were the top three Indian athletes last year respectively, in which none could win this year.
The first Indian runner up who finished just two second behind Rahul, said that he has done no special training for it and he is happy with this result.
Indrajeet Patel, the ONGC employee become the third fastest Indian to win Airtel Delhi Half Marathon 2012.
"The atmosphere was hot and humid which obstruct us in making our best. He finished in 01:06:15.
There were stiff competition among me Rahul and Netender, but in the last moment I tailed at 3rd spot" he said.
"ONGC supports us up to great level, we got special training in India and abroad and I hope, I can do better in future," Patel added.
The winner of 5th edition of Airtel Delhi Half marathon in male category have been honoured with prize money of Rs.2,50,000, Rs.2,00,000 and Rs.1,50,000 respectively.
Our aim is to win the national game and then Asian games, the winners said.
