Having black strips on their mouth with handcuffs duly locked, the trade leaders of about 20 States of the country staged a Protest Dharna at Jantar Mantar at New Delhi today signifying that after business operations of FDI in Retail. The Dharna was held under the umbrella of the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT).
Announcing future course of action CAIT National President B.C.Bhartia and Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal said that trade leaders of different states in their meeting held yesterday unanimously resolved to intensify their agitation nationwide. It was also resolved to rope in organisations of Farmers, Hawkers, Trade Unions, Transporters, Self-employed people and other stakeholders to give a wide shape to the agitation.
On 2nd October, the birthday of champion of Quit India Movement Mahatama Gandhi, the trade associations in different states will observe the day as "Sadbudhhi Day" during which the traders and other people will gather at statute of Mahatama Gandhi in their respective cities praying for prevailing saner counsel to the Government.
The CAIT has also decided to hold State level Conferences from 1st October to 30th December,2012. The Traders delegations will meet Chief Ministers of all States and will also meet prominent leaders of all political parties including Congress and will deliver a memorandum seeking their active support in opposing FDI in Retail.
