The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Sunday announced to give a cash reward of Rs.20 lakh to each player of Indian under-19 world cup team. The support staff will get Rs.15 lakh each.
"Many congratulations to the Indian team for winning the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup," BCCI president N. Srinivasan has been quoted as saying.
"We won the 'senior' World Cup last year, and now our boys have triumphed in the junior version of the tournament. This is a great day for Indian cricket," he said.
Earlier India under 19 world cup team thrashed Australia by six wickets in the ICC Under-19 World Cup.
Batting first, the hosts made 225 runs in 50 over loosing 8 wickets, WG Bosisto was highest scorer with 87 runs.
Sandeep Sharma of India under 19 team took 4 wickets at an economy rate of 5.40.
Chasing the target the start of India was not good and P Chopra walked back to pavilion without scoring. But Indians choose to accelerate despite fall of the wickets.
Skippesr Unmukt Chand stayed at the wicket and ensured India’s victory with an unbeaten score of 111.
Now the country is applauding ICC under-19 world cup winners.
