Maruti Suzuki India has reopened its Manesar plant after a month amidst heavy security.
A lockout was declared on June 21 after violence, which killed 1 senior company official and injured 100 others.
There is heavy security inside and outside the plant with 500 personnel of Haryana Police and 100 of company’s own special force, which includes ex-servicemen
Workers are standing in queue outside the factory gate.
Company is resuming the work with only 300 permanent workers.
S.Y. Siddiqui, Chief Operating Officer (Administration) yesterday said that there will be only a single shift from 8 am to 4:30 pm and only about 150 cars will be rolled out every day.
Normal capacity of Maruti Suzuki India is 1,500-1,700 units while the annual capacity is of 5.5 lakh units.
During the closure plant suffered damages of around Rs 10 crore, while the production loss was around Rs 1,400 crore.
