VVS Laxmant, the men who stood alone against one of the toughest team of this decade, Australia has decided to call it quits.
After 134 Test matches and 16 glorious year, Laxman may announce his retirement from International cricket with the first Test against New Zealand that will be played in Hyderabad from Aug 23 to 27.
Though he is selected for both the test matches, he may call it quits in front of his some crowd.
Vangipurappu Venkata Sai Laxman began his Test journey against South Africa at Ahmedabad in the year 1996. Laxman made his first Test hundred, 167 against Australia in the Sydney Test.
Two years later he made his ODI debut against Zimbabwe at Cuttack.
But it was Test format in which he flourished and especially against Australia. When rest failed, he with The Wall (Rahul Dravid) kept the fight on.
With 17 hundreds, 8,781 runs at an average of 45.97 in 134 Test matches he has proved himself to be one of India's most reliable batsman
Laxman with Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid made batting quartet for India, which ruled for over a decade.
It was his fighting spirit and to make runs in dipping situation that earned him the nickname Very Very Special.
