Serena Williams swept to her fifth Wimbledon crown beating Agnieszka Radwanska in 122-minute final by 6-1, 5-7, 6-2.
Last time she won and major title was in the year 2010.
Serena said, "A couple of years ago, when I was in hospital I never thought this was possible. I never dreamt I would get here again. I want to thank everybody, mom, dad, and my sisters who were with me in hospital. Because of everything I went through, this title is sweeter."
It was a comeback of a fighter. "Maybe I wanted it so bad that I got tight, instead of focusing on things that I was doing I was only focusing on things that I wasn't doing."
Serena (30) was playing against Agnieszka (23). Still it never looked that she was lacking in any way.
It was 14th Grand Slam title for her and she is not planning to stop here now. "It's the beginning of a great phase, I feel amazing out there. This whole tournament I felt really great physically. So it's definitely the beginning of something great. I hope it is."
At the time of receiving award Serena looked up at Venus and said, "I must have everything you have, Venus and now I have five just like you. I copied you again."
Venus William her elder sister also has won five Wimbledon titles.
This win was very important for her and it was expressed when she tossed aside her racket and fell on her back after playing the winning shot. In the players, Venus was also on her feet, clapping while tear streamed down her face.
Radwanska, the first Pole to reach a Grand Slam final for 73 years, said, "This was the best two weeks of my career. I'm happy to have made the final, proud to have played it. I wanted to win here today like I did in the juniors in 2005, but Serena was too good. I'll be back next year."
Serena was awarded a cheque for £1.15 million ($1.78 million). With this win Serena became the first woman over 30 to win Wimbledon since legendary Martina Navratilova did it in the year 1990.
