India won the first of the five-match series match against Sri Lanka at Hambantota by 21 runs with man of the match Virat Kohli scoring 106 off 113 on Saturday.
In a high scoring match yesterday, Kohli and Sehwag added 173 runs off 175 balls after the early departure of Gambhir. However, Sehwag could not complete his 16th century and was out for 96.
In reply to India's 314, Sri Lanka;s former captain Kumar Sangakarra put his best efforts to keep the hopes of Sri Lanka alive and scored brilliant 133. But all his efforts were in vain as Sri Lanka could make only 293 runs at the loss of nine wickets at the end of 50 over.
India after getting a shaky start gained the pace and scored a brilliant 314 in 50 overs by loosing six wickets. Virender Sehwag and Kohli shown some brilliant cricket to the crown. Raina and Dhoni also played their role to take the score high.
