The final report of Mumbai Rave Party drug test revealed that Indian cricketer Rahul Sharma and South African fast bowler Wayne Parnell who were detained on May 20 from Juhu's Oakwood Premier hotel in northwest Mumbai have administered drugs.
Rahul who is currently in Sri Lanka with Indian team for playing five One Day International (ODI) and one T20 match, may be barred to participate as the final report which was received by investigating team of Mumbai police, revealed that Rahul and Parnell were among those who were test positive for drugs.
After final test report, eighty six person out of 90 arrested from the party were found positive, informed a senior official of Mumbai police. Only two men and two women were test negative, police added.
This report of drug test may hamper the career of Rahul, who has played just three ODI matches and no Test match so far.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the regulator of cricket in India may award Rahul with lifetime ban. However BCCI, in its official release has said that it would not take any action or decision in haste.
First it would study the test report and can make its own probing committee that will investigate the case. On the basis of it's report, BCCI will take action, BCCI's official sources said.
Former Indian Captain Saurav Ganguli has backed Rahul stating that he might have mistakenly administered drugs. So he might have not loosen his position from Indian Team.
Earlier in June, as many as 44 persons detained from the same party, had tested positive.
On Friday, the test report of remaining 46 persons were received by Mumbai Police.
The police on May 20 had raided in a plush hotel 'Hotel Oakwood' and busted a sundown party on the suspicion that it was a rave party. From there it detained 90 persons including celebrities.
Urine and blood samples of all the detained persons were sent to the city's Cooper Hospital, Bhabha Hospital and Sir J J Hospital next day.
