It all started when Spain beat Germany in Euro 2008 and then won maiden World Cup title 2 years ago in Johannesburg. And yesterday they became the only team in 52-year history of Euro Cup that won consecutive titles.
Spain thumped a 4-0 victory over Italy in the final of Euro Cup 2012 played in Ukrainian capital Kiev.
Andres Iniesta was named man of the match.
According to Iniesta this feat of Spain is "something that will never be repeated".
Cesc Fabregas said, "I think so. Those people who think we are playing boring ... in my opinion they don';t understand the game".
"This feels really amazing, one of the best days of my life. I don';t think we';re ready to see what we have done yet. Three major trophies in a row have never been done before in the history of football. It';s difficult to realize what we have done, but in time I think we will. It';s amazing," he added.
Spain';s coach Vicente del Bosque said that the next target now is to retain the World Cup title in Brazil in two years'; time.
Fernando Torres was awarded the Euro 2012 Golden Boot for scoring 3 goals in Euro 2012 for Spain. 28-year-old even scored a goal in the final match and became the first ever player to score in two separate European Championship finals.
David Silva scored the first goal in 14 minutes when he headed a close-range cross from Cesc Fabregas in the net.
Left-back Jordi Alba scored the second in the 41st minute, slotting past Gianluigi Buffon on Xavi's through pass.
Torres then scored Spain`s third goal in the final and then assisted Juan Mata for the fourth goal moments later.
Torres replaced Fabregas with 15 minutes to go. He ended his dreadful season by a superb 15-minute cameo in the final win over Italy.
Mario Gomez of Germany also had 3 goals in Euro 2012 but couldn't get the award as Torres played fewer minutes than him while scoring the goals.
Italy played last half hour with 10 men after Thiago Motta who was third substitute limped off with a hamstring strain.
Spain is now world's first nation to consecutively win 2 European championships and a World Cup title.
