Myanmar opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi will be awarded with the Congressional Gold Medal, which is the highest US award.
Aung San will visit US in September 2012 and she will be awarded on Sep 21. US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton invited Suu Kyi when she visited Myanmar in December.
This award was given to her in the year 2008 but she could not receive it as she was under house arrest.
She will also receive the Atlantic Council's "Global Citizen" award.
It will be after 40 years that she will return to US. She used to work in UN from 1969 to 1971 and used to live in New York City.
Suu Kyi (67) was released from house arrest in November 2010.
