Day three of the ongoing 'Airtel Rising Stars' in Delhi, the largest under-16 football talent hunt got off with an outstanding start on Monday, July 16.
During these three days hunt organized at Dr. Ambedkar Stadium, approx. 3,000 young kids participated to show their football skill. All the participating candidates displayed excellent potential, confidence and enthusiasm to stake their claim for the final selection at the football camp. All the participants were divided into 6-player teams and all of them played 6-a-side matches on 1/3rd size of the football ground, officiated by professional referees.
All the players got equal and unbiased opportunity to demonstrate their talent and skills during the entire event. The participants were cheered by their known ones and supporters throughout the selection. After the trials of three days, total 132 participants out of 3000 have been selected by officially certified and renowned coaches.
On Tuesday, the final day of selection, only three players will get selected from these 132 selected participants, who will get the opportunity to represent Delhi at the national level selection camp. The selection of the players will be strictly based on their talent and expertise. These major consideration to judge their skills will include technical and tactical skills, physical and mental strength, communication, discipline, enthusiasm and fair play.
The talent hunt will run for three months covering 16 Indian cities including Mumbai, Delhi, Panaji, Kolkata, Bangalore, Calicut, Chandigarh, Guwahati, Shillong, Pune, Kochi, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Chennai, Hyderabad and Jaipur. The event is being supported by all the State and District Football Associations.
Once the selection hunt gets completed, all the three players selected from each state will get the chance to undergo a six-day camp-cum-selection trial conducted by coaches from Manchester United. 48 players will be divided into four teams of 12 each and will be tested on parameters based on physical attributes, individual skills, match situations and their performances in actual matches before 12 of the best players are chosen to travel to Manchester United for a week and to train alongside the Manchester United Academy team.
