After Pakistan's gaffe on Sarabjit's release case, India on Wednesday has appealed Pakistan to release Sarabjit Singh, whose name was earlier announced but later modified with the name of another Indian who is in Kot Lakhpat jail, Pakistan 'Surjeet Singh', son of Sucha Singh.
However, India has welcomed the release of Surjeet Singh and made a further appeal to Pakistan to release all Indians who have completed their terms.
External Affairs Minister S M Krishna on Pakistan's yesterday's faux pas made no comments but appealed Pak president and government to release all Indians including much-awaited Sarabjit Singh.
"I have seen media reports about release from imprisonment in Pakistan, of Surjeet Singh, son of Sucha Singh. I welcome this decision and further renew our request to the president of Pakistan to release Sarabjit Singh who has been in custody for well over two decades and is serving a death sentence," said Krishna.
This fresh appeal has been done Pakistan's solecism on releasing Sarabjit Singh.
The Pakistani media on Tuesday had carried out reports of Sarabjit's release after getting him pardon from Pak President.
But, after roaming this news report on Pakistani news channels, Pak President's spokesperson Farhatullah Babar made a clarification that it was Surjeet Singh, son of Sucha Singh, not Sarabjit who is on death-row sentence, was set to be released. His name was 'mistakenly' roaming in media due to some confusion.
Babar's clarification came after five hours of news reports.
On the other hand, S M Krishna in his fresh appeal has urged Pak governemnt to take a "sympathetic and humanitarian view" of Sarabjit's case.
"I also appeal to the government of Pakistan to release all Indian nationals who have completed their prison term," he added.
