6.4 Magnitude Earthquake hits Japan, No immediate damage

Japan's northern coast was hit by a 6.4 magnitude of earthquake as recorded by US Geological Survey on Monday.

Fortunately there have been no serious damage and there is no expectation of Tsunami.

The center of the quake was 115 km (72 miles) southeast of Morioka on Japan's Pacific coast, and 31 km deep.

According to Japan Meteorological Agency, the earthquake was of magnitude 6.1 and the center was deeper at 40 km (25 miles).

It was rated 4 on Japan's 7-point seismic scale.

In March 2011, an earthquake of 9.0 magnitude hit Japan that cost heavy loss of life.
