When Mumbai put a total of 120 in twenty overs while batting first it looked like Pune Warriors would win this match. The pitch was slow, balls were keeping low and batting conditions were not favorable but with the batting lineup Pune had the score was reachable.
Sourav Ganguly took 24 balls to make just 16 runs before getting out and that made the huge difference as Pune lost to Mumbai just by 1 run. Mumbai Indians bowler bowled well and didn't allowed any Pune batsmen to get going except for Manhas who fought till the end.

Uthappa showed some promise by hitting some great shots at the very start of the inning but Ryder, Clarke and Smith couldn't contribute and Ganguly's test match inning did the rest of the damage. Malinga and Harbhajan took 2 Pune wickets each.
