Chennai Super Kings after crawling to the fourth spot played yesterday's match like the Champion. They dominated every part of the game from bowling to fielding to batting. Dhoni, CSK captain came into form when it was specially needed and helped his team mark a 38 run win over Mumbai Indians.
Batting first Chennai didn't have a good start with Vijay and Raina falling in consecutive balls. But Hussey and Badrinath constructed the innings and made 49 and 47 runs respectively in 39 balls apiece. But it was Dhoni's day, he blasted 51 in 20 balls hitting 6 fours and 2 sixes. He was well supported by Bravo who made 33 in 14 balls. Last 8 overs in their innings yielded 105 runs and they reached mammoth 187 in 20 overs.
Mumbai Indians chase was never up to the mask. Sachin got run out and rest of the batting just tumbled and batsmen kept on falling. Only Smith showed some fight in his 38 in 22 balls. Morkel and Bravo took 2 wickets each.
Dhoni was awarded man of the match for his blistering innings.
With this win Chennai Super Kings qualified for 2nd Qualifier and will face Delhi Daredevils in Chennai.
IPL Eliminator was played between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians at M. Chinnaswamy stadium of Bengaluru in which the CSK marked a 38 runs victory.
