Delhi Daredevils have performed superbly throughput the Indian Premier League and continuing that form they marked a 5 wicket win over Kings XI Punjab and became the first team to secure a place in top four.
Batsmen of both the team were finding it difficult to score and hence it was a low scoring match. Punjab won the toss and decided to bat first, Hussey 40 was the biggest score from their side and they could only make 136 in 20 overs at the loss of 8 wickets. Umesh Yadav tormented the most by taking 3 wickets in his 4 overs giving away just 21 runs. Aaron took 2 wickets in his 4 overs.
During the chase top three batsmen of Delhi fell early without contributing much. Jayawardene stood the ground and though slowly he took Delhi to the win by an unbeaten 56 runs. He was well supported in the end by Ojha and Pathan. Awana of Kings XI Punjab do made things difficult for Delhi as he took 3 of their wickets in his 4 overs.
Umesh Yadav was awarded man of the match.
With this win Delhi are at the top of the table with 20 points and need just one more win out of the two matches left to secure their top position. While Kings XI Punjab are at 7th position with 14 points though they have two matches still left.
