It was the contest between the best bowler and best attacking batsmen in which later emerged as winner. Malinga who has now the highest wickets in IPL (20) couldn't control the Gayle storm who went on to make 82 runs and made the RCB win look easy.
In the 54th match of IPL played at Wankhede stadium Royal Challenger Bangalore thumped a massive 9-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians.
Mumbai start was not up to the mark with 44 being the highest run made by Kartik. Sachin Tendulkar contributed 24 and Pollard hit 2 sixes in the last over taking the score to 140 which never looked enough against a strong batting line up of RCB. Vinay Kumar, Harshal Patel and Murali took 2 wickets each.
During the chase Dilshan and Chris Gayle started slowly but later Gayle picked up pace, he hit 6 sixes and 5 fours in his 82 runs inning. With this he took the orange cap surpassing the 500 run mark. Now he has 513 runs. Mumbai bowlers couldn't take more than one wicket and dropped Gayle twice very early in the match and had to pay for it.
Chris received the man of the match award for his stupendous performance.
