Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) will launch an advanced French remote sensing satellite later this year. A deal has been finalised between Antrix Corporation Limited (Antrix), the commercial arm of ISRO, and Astrium SAS, a company under EADS, France. Sources says that this is a around Rs 100 cr deal.
India will launch the satellite SPOT 6 with its Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) in the last of this year. It is a advanced French remote satellite that will be launched in the second half of the year 2012.
According to the agreement, satellite SPOT 6, weighing nearly 800 kg and built by Astrium SAS, will be launched on-board PSLV.
It is noted that the agreement between ANTRIX and Astrium is a part of the long-term pact signed between the two agencies in September 2008.
ISRO has said that in the coming days, further collaboration possibilities between Antrix/ISRO and Astrium would be explored.
