India's largest car manufacturer company Maruti Suzuki has launched its utility vehicle Ertiga that will come in both petrol and diesel versions. Company has claimed that it will be a Life Utility Vehicle (LUV) which price range is Rs. 5.89 lakh to Rs. 8.45 lakh.
Ertiga, the Maruti's first multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) was unveiled at the Auto Expo 2012 in Delhi. Now the company has entered into the Utility Vehicle arena and effectively creates a new compact MPV segment in the country.
According to sources Ertiga has capacity for seven seats, which will have a fuel efficiency of 20.77 kmpl for its diesel variant (1.3 litre DDiS Super Turbo engine).
With Ertiga, now Maruti can compete with Mahindra Bolero and Tata Sumo Victa etc which all are diesel-powered cars.
It has been said that Ertiga has been made on the Swift platform and especially for Indian market. Company is planning to sell around 5,000 units of Ertiga every month, which will be manufactured at companys Gurgaon plant.
