Sanjay Aggarwal, the Chief Executive officer (CEO) of cash-strapped air carrier Kingfisher Airlines (KFA) is set to appear before the civil aviation regulator Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Tuesday, as DGCA has summoned airline's CEO for giving explanation regarding large-scale disruptions in the carriers operation.
Sanjay Aggarwal has reached to DGCA office today morning, and reportedly submitted the revival plan before the DGCA Chief E K Bharat Bhushan, media reports say.
Meanwhile, the problems of Kingfisher deepened last week when 35 senior commanders quit their jobs due to not getting the salary since last few months and a large number of cabin crew and ground staff have sent their notice.
The disruptions in operation continued for the fourth consecutive day, as 23 more flights - 15 departures from Mumbai and 8 flights from Bangalore - were already declared cancelled on Tuesday and KFA was also not operating a large chunk of its fleet.
According to KFA's official, the problem occurred when the Income Tax Department (IT-D) sealed the bank account of KFA due to not paying the liable tax dues, which disable the KFA to pay the salary of staffs and dues to the vendors.
Moreover, KFA has a huge debt of oil marketing companies (OMCs), which can also stop supplying aircraft fuels to KFA any times. KFA has asked the bail out package from the government, but Civil Aviation Ministry has refused the KFA's demand.
"As far as Kingfisher or any other private airline is concerned, they have to present their business plan to the banks and if they (banks) are satisfied with that, and if it is within RBI guidelines, then they will lend money," Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh said to media on Monday.
Vijay Mallya, the head of KFA has however, ruled out the speculation of shutting down the airline operation even temporarily. "We have discussed the situation threadbare with the banks. Shutting down is not in national interest. Why should we give up?," he said.
