Japan once again experienced the trauma of earthquake on Friday that measured 7.3 on the Richter scale in the east coast of Honshu Island. The earthquake has also led to tsunami warning for the coastal areas, Xinhua reported.
The earthquake took place at 5.18 p.m. in the evening and recorded a depth of 10 km, the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) said. Earlier, the US Geological Survey (USGS) had put the origin at a depth of 36 km.
The quake was followed by another 6.2-magnitude aftershock off the east coast of Honshu, at 08.31 GMT, the USGS said.
According to JMA, The 7.3-magnitude earthquake shaking the east coast of Honshu island and has resulted in a tsunami warning for the northeastern coastal areas of the country.
Moreover, a warning of a two-meter tsunami was issued for the coast of the country's Miyagi prefecture. Injuries to people and damage to property are still not verified exactly.
Earlier, on March 11, 2011 nearly 16,000 people had been killed in a 7.2 Richter earthquake followed by subsequent tsunami in Japan.
