Barcelona close to La Liga title as Real Madrid slips 13 points behind

Barcelona defeated Atletico Madrid by 4-1 at Camp Nou on Sunday taking a 13 points lead from the 3rd placed Real Madrid and 9 points lead from the 2nd placed Atletico.

Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho now believes that its over for Real Madrid.

"The league is now impossible. It is the first time that I have been in a situation like this where my team are a long way off their objectives," he said.

"But I don't want to make a drama out of it, I will treat it as another stage of my life," he added.

Real were held to a 2-2 draw by Espanyol on Sunday morning. Sergio Garcia of Espanyol scored the first goal just before half hour and put his team ahead in the game. However, Cristiano Ronaldo equalized and kept his team in race.

Two minutes after the break Fabio Coentrao put Real in front for most part of the match but substitute Juan Albin made the score 2-2 just before 90 minutes.

Now even if Real Madrid defeats Atletico Madrid in coming game they will be far behind their bitter rival Barcelona.
