Chinese writer Mo Yan was honoured with the Nobel Prize 2012 for the field of literature at Stockholm Concert Hall on Monday.
The Nobel Prize Award Ceremony for 2012 started on Monday at Stockholm Concert Hall with the Swedish royal anthem "The King's Song." The veteran writer Mo Yan, dressed in black tailcoat, went slowly up to join his seat on the stage with the other Nobel Prize winners, Xinhua reported.
Chairman of the Board of Nobel Foundation, Marcus Storch initiated the award ceremony by addressing and welcoming the winners for attending the ceremony in Sweden.
King of Sweden Carl XVI Gustaf presented the Nobel diploma, medal and a document confirming the prize amount to MO Yan after a representative of the Nobel Prize jury in literature introduced the achievement of Mo Yan in literature.
In the later part of the ceremony, the orchestra presented a part of the "Aladdin Suite" called "Chinese Dance".
In addition to Mo Yan, 2012 Nobel Prize laureates in Physics, Chemistry, Physiology, Medicine and Economics were also awarded by the King.
The Nobel Prizes is being presented traditionally to the laureates Dec 10, the death anniversary of Alfred Nobel, since 1901.
