Lionel Messi has become the proud father of a baby boy on Friday. His girlfriend Antonella Rocuzzo gave birth to their first child at 17:15 at the USP Dexeus hospital in Barcelona.
They have name the boy Thiago Messi Rocuzzo.
FC Barcelona and Argentine star soccer player wrote on his Facebook page, "Today I'm the happiest man in the world, my son was born and thank God for this gift".
25-year-old remained with Antonella throughout the process and was excused from Friday's practice
Messi is expected to be in the lineup for Barcelona's Saturday's match with Celta.
Tito Vilanova, Barcelona coach said, " Messi will play, as long as everything is fine".
On Monday, Messi received the Golden Boot as the top scorer in European national leagues, because of his 50 goals last season with Barcelona in La Liga Cup.
Messi has also been named as one of the 23 athletes in contention for the Ballon d'Or, FIFA's award for World Player of the Year.
