According to the rules of International Cricket Council (ICC), the third umpire will be responsible to check for no ball after every dismissal. ICC on Tuesday came out with the series of amendments in the existing rules of cricket and will be effective from Tuesday onwards.
Earlier, the third umpire was only asked to look for the same if the decision was referred to him by the on-field officials, but from now the third umpire will have to check out for the fairness of the delivery immediately after a dismissal to confirm whether that is a no ball.
"If the delivery was not a fair delivery, the third umpire shall advise the on-field umpire by two-way radio who should recall the dismissed batsman, indicate that the batsman is not out and signal no-ball," Sports24 quoted an ICC statement, as saying.
The new playing conditions also include new rules enabling day-night Test matches that will be introduced at the start of the Sri Lanka and New Zealand series that is to start from Tuesday in Pallekele.
