Former Indian Test captain and legendary spinner Anil Kumble has been appointed as the new Chairman of International Cricket Council (ICC) Cricket Committee. He will replace West Indian legend Clive Lloyd.
Anil (41) is the second Indian to be appointed as the chairman. Before him Sunil Gavaskar has also remained as chairman of this committee.
ICC in a statement said, "The ICC Board agreed unanimously to appoint former Indian captain Anil Kumble as the new chairman of the ICC Cricket Committee".
Alan Isaac, ICC President said "In Anil Kumble we have a new chairman who has unquestioned experience not only as a player with India but also as an administrator with Karnataka State Cricket Association".
Andrew Strauss of England who recently retired from International cricket has also been appointed to the committee.
"I am sure that Anil will carry on Clive`s good work and bring, like Andrew Strauss, contemporary thinking to the committee and both understand clearly the issues facing the modern game," Alan added.
The ICC Board also agreed to extend the terms of both Mark Taylor (representing former players) and David Kendix (statisticians) for a further term.
Kumble is the world's third-highest wicket-taker in Tests with 619 wickets, just behind Sri Lankan Muttiah Muralitharan (800) and Shane Warne (708). He also took 337 ODI wickets.

I guess ICC is only made for India. There's loads more of other country's players which looks good in glasses!
