Mumbai, May 3 (IANS) German luxury car manufacturer Audi Thursday launched a new version of its A4 model in the country. It encompasses several new features, including 10 percent improved fuel efficiency, an official said here.
Offering a sporty, stylish look and targeted at the younger and wider customer base, the car is available starting at Rs.2.73 million, ex-showroom in Maharashtra.
"The new Audi A4, with its progressive design, efficient driving dynamics and class defining interiors will take the driving experience to a new paradigm for our customers," said Audi India head Michael Perschke while launching the new vehicle.
Perschke said that the A4's young, sleek and head turning looks would appeal to the younger generation who have arrive in life and are looking to affirm their status and positions among their peers.
Maintaining its position as the fastest growing luxury car brand in India, it continues to be the market leader in the sports car segment with Audi R8, Audi RS5, Audi TT, the luxury SUV segment with Audi Q5 and Q7, besides Thursday's A4 range of limousines.
Incidentally, since 39 years, the A4 is the company's longest-selling vehicle and is now in its eighth generation with more than 10 million vehicles sold since 1972.
In the first quarter of 2012, the A4 emerged as the best-seller in its segment in India, besides bagging 27 awards during 2011-12.
"We have been expanding our network to achieve the target of selling at least 8000 cars by the year-end, and with the A4, Audi TT and imminent arrival of Audi Q3, Audi will maintain its position as the fastest growing luxury car brand in India," Perschke said.
This year, Audi plans to open seven more dealer networks in addition to the existing 18 around the country.
The Audi model range in India currently includes Audi A4, Audi A6, Audi A7 Sportback, Audi A8L, Audi Q5, Audi Q7, Audi RS5 Coupe, Audi TT, the super sports car Audi R8 and the Audi R8 Spyder available across the country.
