Pranab to visit Manila and Dhaka

New Delhi, May 2(ANI): Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee will leave on three-day visit to Manila and Dhaka on Thursday. In Manila, Mukherjee will attend the Asian Development Bank's (ADB's) 45th Annual Board of Governors' meeting and discuss issues relating to global economic situation, infrastructure development, urbanization, energy security, regional and South-South Cooperation.

He will also hold bilateral meetings with Akihiko Tanaka, the president of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and his Bangladeshi and Bhutanese counterparts.

Mukherjee will chair the ADB Board of Governors till their next annual meeting in New Delhi.

Mukherjee will also meet Haruhiko Kuroda, the president of the ADB to discuss the need to work closely to enhance South Asia Sub Regional Economic Cooperation (SASEC), before flying to Dhaka on Saturday to hold delegation level talks with Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina

He will also meet opposition leader Khaleda Zia, and participate in the concluding ceremony of 150th anniversary celebrations of Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore. y Mrityunjay Singh (ANI)
