Kolkata, Apr 30 (ANI): Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dipu Moni has described bilateral ties between India and Bangladesh as excellent.
Moni, who is currently on a visit to India, said: "Bangladesh and India relations, I believe, is at its best now, as it was in 1971 when Bangladesh was fighting for its liberation and our Indian brothers and sisters stood by us."
"I think in that same spirit we are now moving forward and our bilateral relations is excellent," she added.
Moni also noted that as part of the framework agreement, of review on various developmental projects between the two nations would be carried out soon.
"You know that during the Indian Prime Minister's visit to Dhaka both sides signed a framework agreement on cooperation in development and this agreement sort of encapsulates everything, all the cooperation that we have in all the sectors. And in that agreement we have kept a mechanism to sort of monitor and review the progress of our cooperation and that mechanism is this joint commission and this is going to be our first meeting and it is going to be in Delhi," Moni said.
The Bangladesh foreign minister also welcomed the forthcoming visit of U.S Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to Bangladesh and India
" Hilton Clinton is coming to the region. She will be visiting Dhaka and we have heard that she will also be visiting Kolkata and Delhi. She is very much welcome in our region," said Moni.
Clinton is due to visit India on May 6 after visiting China and Bangladesh. (ANI)
