Mumbai, Apr 30 (ANI): Defending the letter written by him to Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh in which he warned that the country's security is at stake, Chief of Army Staff, General V.K. Singh, on Monday said giving details of the preparedness to the Defence Minister and all those concerned is an ongoing process.
General Singh, however, said it is very unfortunate that somebody has done a treasonable act of leaking a very confidential letter written to the Prime Minister.
"Giving details of our preparedness to our Raksha Mantri (Defence Minister) and to all other people who are concerned with is an ongoing process. So, there is nothing late or early in it. It is an ongoing process. From time to time, we keep informing them," said General Singh.
"And it is just unfortunate that somebody has done a treasonable act of leaking a very confidential letter written to the Prime Minister. And there is communication with others also. Luckily they have not been leaked," he added.
The Army Chief's letter to Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh brings to his notice critical gaps in the security apparatus and warns that the country's security is at risk.
According to reports, the letter apparently emphasizes the need to bridge the shortcomings and bring the army to fighting level. (ANI)
