'Terrorist state' Pak 'complicit' in Osama's extended stay in country: Analyst

Islamabad , Sat, 28 Apr 2012 ANI

Islamabad, Apr 28 (ANI): Following the deportation of the Bin Laden family from Pakistan, a defense analyst accused the terrorism-infected country of being 'complicit' in Osama residing clandestinely in the country.

Pakistani authorities deported 14 members of Osama bin Laden's family to Saudi Arabia on Friday, in a bid to bring the long saga of the former Al-Qaeda chief extended stay in the country to a close.

However, the question about how bin Laden could have hid in Pakistan with his family undetected since 2005 remains unanswered.

"It's just a lot of hoopla. The authorities have just hyped up this whole issue to prove that their noses are clean. But they're not. Pakistan still has a deep state, a terrorist state. And that makes them complicit," the Christian Science Monitor quoted Kamran Shafi, a former army officer and a defense analyst, as saying.

Another retired general and defense analyst Talat Masood reiterated the notion.

"The chapter never closes as far as Osama bin Laden is concerned. The legacy he has left behind for Pakistan is far too damaging, and not something we can just ignore," he said. (ANI)
