Rupert Murdoch claims to have had 'seven secret meetings' with Cameron

London , Thu, 26 Apr 2012 ANI

London, Apr 26 (ANI): Media tycoon Rupert Murdoch has claimed that he had met David Cameron on at least seven occasions since he became the Prime Minister.

Cameron had previously admitted that he met the chairman and chief executive of News Corporation twice since May 2010.

But Murdoch provided details of diary entries to the Leveson Inquiry into Press Standards, which showed that the two men had met on at least five more occasions, The Telegraph reports.

The seven recorded meetings with Cameron included two encounters in May 2010, two in July 2010, one in March 2011 and two in June 2011.

There was also a "proposed" meeting in July 2010 and a "possible" breakfast in June 2011, which may have taken place.

According to the paper, Cameron admitted "we all did too much cosying up to Rupert Murdoch".

A Downing Street spokesman, however, denied the meetings listed by Murdoch took place.

"We are confident the list we published is correct," the paper quoted the spokesman, as saying.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, James Murdoch disclosed that he had discussed details of News Corporation's proposed takeover of BSkyB with Cameron during a private dinner shortly before Christmas 2010. (ANI)
