New Delhi, April 26 (IANS) A Bangladeshi Air Force cadet, who force-landed his trainer plane on the Indian side of the border in West Bengal due to bad weather, was Thursday returned to Dhaka, an official said here.

'The cadet was flown back to Dhaka Thursday afternoon from Kolkata by an AN-32 transport plane of the Indian Air Force (IAF),' the official said.

The cadet, identified as Rashid Sheikh, had taken off in a PT6 trainer aircraft from the Jessore air base of the Bangladeshi Air Force training cademy Wednesday evening on a training sortie.

He was forced to crash land on an agricultural land near Raigrama village in Murshidabad's Salar area on the Indian side due to bad weather.

Indian Border Security Force (BSF) got the first report of the Bangladeshi trainer aircraft losing contact with the Jessore air traffic control from the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).

The cadet sustained minor injuries due to rough landing on an uneven surface and was rescued by the Indian authorities, who rushed him to the Kolkata Command Hospital for medical attention, the official said.
