London, Apr 26 (ANI): Manchester City defender Pablo Zabaleta has said that they will not throw away their second chance of Premier League glory.
The Argentine defender said he feared City's hopes were over when they lost at Arsenal on Easter Sunday, leaving them eight points behind leaders Manchester United with just six games to play.
But City has closed the gap back to just three points with three straight wins and could overtake United at the top if they win the biggest derby for years at the Etihad on Monday night, The Sun reports.
Zabaleta said: "To be honest, after the Arsenal defeat I thought our chance was probably gone. We've been five points clear before so we know how it feels.
"But United losing against Wigan and dropping points against Everton shows that in football you have to believe because you never know. If we have another chance for the title it is because we deserve it. We kept going and we will continue to do that and see what happens."
Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson believes this derby will be the biggest of his 25 years at the club - and Zabaleta reckons it must be one of the most important ever.
"We know how important this game is. United is the team we want to beat - especially because it gives us a chance to go back to the top of the table. For the race for the title, it's very important. That's why it is probably one of the biggest derbies ever," Zabaleta said. (ANI)
