London, April 25 (IANS) Norwegian mass killer Anders Behring Breivik has told a court in Oslo that a psychiatric report that found him insane following the 77 killings he carried out was a "lie".
Breivik said his argument was "entirely logical" and there was "not the slightest possibility I will be judged insane", BBC reported Wednesday.
Two medical reports delivered opposing views on his sanity. The court's ruling on this will determine whether Breivik is sent to jail or into psychiatric care.
The 33-year-old Breivik admits to killing 77 people in Oslo and on Utoeya island in July last year, but denies criminal responsibility.
A five-member panel of judges will make the ruling on his sanity at the verdict in July.
Breivik's first psychiatric report found him suffering from paranoid schizophrenia, but the second concluded he was sane and accountable for his actions.
He told the court that the psychiatrists compiling the first study failed to understand he had deliberately suppressed his emotions to prepare for the attacks.
"It is not me who is described in that report. Everything I presented was entirely logical. I don't see the slightest possibility I will be judged insane," he said.
Breivik said the compilers of the report had no experience in dealing with political extremists.
Breivik has said sending him to a psychiatric ward would be a fate worse than death.
If found sane, he faces 21 years in jail, which can be extended if he is thought to be a continuing danger to society. He would face compulsory psychiatric care if found insane.
