New York, Apr 23 (ANI): The ensemble relationship comedy 'Think Like a Man' raked in a whopping 33 million dollars over the weekend box office, thus dethroning 'The Hunger Games' from the top spot.
'The Hunger Games' ruled the box-office for the last four consecutive Fridays.
Think Like a Man is Hollywood's biggest-opening romantic comedy since the 2010 release of New Year's Eve (NYE's) older, more successful sibling, Valentine's Day, E! Online reported.
Although the No. 1 finish was not unexpected, its gross was. Conservative studio estimates had pegged the film, made for nearly 12 million dollars, for an opening in the high teens.
'Think Like a Man' is also the top-opening movie of Chris Brown's film career now.
'The Lucky One' settled for second place and was apparently a positive development for Zac Efron, whose track record took a hit in the aforementioned NYE.
The complete rundown of the weekend's top movies, per Friday-Sunday domestic estimates as reported by the studios and Exhibitor Relations includes:
Think Like a Man, 33 million dollars
The Lucky One, 22.8 million dollars
The Hunger Games, 14.5 million dollars
Chimpanzee, 10.2 million dollars
The Three Stooges, 9.2 million dollars
The Cabin in the Woods, 7.8 million dollars
American Reunion, 5.2 million dollars
Titanic 3D, 5 million dollars
21 Jump Street, 4.6 million dollars
Mirror Mirror, 4.1 million dollars (ANI)
