London, Apr 20(ANI): Chelsea goalkeeper Peter Cech has admitted their defensive tactics against Barcelona in the first leg of the Champions League semifinal, which they won 1-0, has taken a psychological toll on the players since they aren't used to it.
Despite being the home side, Chelsea spent most of the game with 10 men lying deep in their own half, with only Didier Drogba as an attacking option.
Chelsea are likely to utilize similar tactics for the return fixture in the Nou Camp next week, and Cech says it will require extraordinary discipline to hold on to their slender but tricky lead.
"It's not easy because we are not used to playing games when we don't have the ball. Psychologically it's very tough to keep focused and keep our discipline without making mistakes. But we did it," The Telegraph quoted Cech, as saying.
"I think the performance was all about the concentration to stay focused and disciplined all the time to not give them space - even though sometimes for some minutes you don't even see the ball because they are just passing it around and around and around and waiting for their chances," he said.
Cech said it has been tough for them to adjust with defensive tactics, and the team has done what they could.
"You have to adapt and not get frustrated. It's tough. We've done what we could, we've done really well, but we know we are far away from going through because they will have home advantage for the second leg and everything can happen," he said. (ANI)
