'Womens' favourite' Obama ahead of Romney in prez poll race, finds poll

Washington, April 20 (ANI): US President Barack Obama has gained a lead over GOP nominee Mitt Romney among women and minorities voters in the presidential race, according to a new poll.

According to a Quinnipiac University survey, Obama won a sizable 46 percent of the vote compared to Romney's 39 percent among women.

The gap among the men was much smaller at 46 percent to 43 percent, in favor of the president, The NY Daily News reports.

Obama is also leading among black women voters at 94 percent to three percent for Romney.

However, Romney led among white voters with 52 percent votes to Obama's at 36 percent.

Though Obama led among female and minority voters, Romney gained 47 percent votes than Obama at 43 percent when it came to handling the economy.

The poll results also revealed that New Jersey Governor Chris Christie was the favoured vice-presidential candidate to run with Romney.

Thirty-one percent of registered voters said he could be a good choice, although 49 percent said they had not formed an opinion yet. (ANI)
