Lucknow, April 19 (IANS) Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Uma Bharti Thursday cautioned the state government against minority appeasement.
In the state capital to be sworn in as the legislator from Charkhari, the firebrand BJP leader also asked Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav to rein in lumpen elements.
The BJP leader said she would not like to be drawn into the Babu Singh Kushwaha episode. She said a lot has been said on the issue and she would like to refrain from adding anything to it. She also warned Mulayam Singh Yadav not to try and create communal divisions.
"It is my humble request to Mulayam Singh that he should not indulge in minority appeasement as in the past or it would imperil his own standing and the state government," she added.
Underlining that the BJP was not averse to facilities being given to weaker sections, Bharati however said that the saffron party was against quota on communal lines as it was anti-constitution.
