Sydney, Apr 19 (ANI): An Australian lawyer working for WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has reportedly been placed on a watch list and would require permission from the country's Foreign Affairs Department to fly home from Britain.
Jennifer Robinson, a London-based lawyer, claimed to being stopped at Heathrow Airport days after meeting Assange, the founder of the whistle blowing website.
Robinson was told she has been placed on an inhibited travel list and would be unable to enter Australia without permission from the Department of Foreign Affairs, The Sydney Morning Herald reports.
"Just delayed from checking in at LHR because I'm apparently 'inhibited' - requiring approval from Australia House @dfat to travel," she tweeted.
An airport security guard told Robinson that she 'must have done something controversial' and said he would have to phone the embassy,' she said.
According to the report, the Department of Foreign Affairs said it was not aware of any Australian government restrictions on Robinson's travel.
"As an Australian with a valid passport, she would be free to return to Australia at any stage," the paper quoted a spokesman, as saying.
WikiLeaks expressed concern about the incident, which comes only a day after Assange's talk show The World Tomorrow premiered on TV network Russia Today with an interview with Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of the militant group Hezbollah.
Robinson, the director of legal advocacy at the Bertha Foundation in London, advises Assange and acted for him in extradition proceedings in Britain. (ANI)
