London, Apr 18(ANI): McLaren's ace driver Jenson Button is happy to have a competitive teammate in Lewis Hamilton.
Hamilton is yet to win a race this year but had finished third in the opening three rounds to lead the drivers' championship.
"It's good that I've got a tough competitor. It drives the team forward. Maybe when you are fighting for the championship in the last couple of races you don't want such a tough team-mate," The Daily Mirror quoted Button, as saying.
"We are three races in and there are two points between us, so it is b***r all. I'm confident in my ability and confident in the way this car is working so it is going to be a very exciting year," he added.
"I have got a very tough team-mate and I love that. It was probably quite fun watching us fight our way through the field in China. We have proved we are very, very hungry to beat each other and to finish as high up as we can," he said.
The 2009 champion denied he was frustrated to be the only one to win a race, and still be trailing Hamilton.
"It's probably the other way around. I am only two points behind and I didn't score any points in the second race. It is not frustrating for me at all. The two that I have finished in the points I was first and second; for me that is the most important thing," Button said.
"Malaysia was a blip and hopefully one that will be forgotten when we get into some more races. It is phenomenal how that has worked out and I am guessing it is going to be like that for a lot of this season so there will be some good fights between us," he added. (ANI)
