New Delhi, Apr 17 (ANI): Expressing happiness over the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) election results, which clearly indicate a major victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), senior party leader Venkaiah Naidu on Tuesday said that urban voters are fed up with the Congress party.
"We are happy about the trends in MCD poll. It's an indication of the mind of the people of national level," Naidu told media here.
"There are three reasons for BJP's win, first of which was that the BJP-led MCD provided good governance to the people. Horrible corruption enacted by the Congress party and the price rise are the other two issues which led to Congress' loss and BJP's gain," he added.
The BJP was leading in all three municipal corporation areas of Delhi.
Polling for all 272 wards spread in three civic bodies-East, South and North-were held on Sunday in which 55 per cent of the 1.15 crore voters exercised their franchise.
There are 104 wards each in South and North Delhi and 64 in the East. About 138 seats are reserved for women. South has 904 candidates, the highest followed by the North (885) and the East (634). (ANI)
