London, Apr 17 (ANI): Chelsea's stop gap coach Roberto Di Matteo has already made his pitch to keep the manager's job after being interviewed by the club's technical director.
The Daily Express reports that Michael Emenalo spoke to Di Matteo about the possibility of becoming next permanent boss, as the club searches for new options.
Chelsea start the Champions League semi-final against Barcelona tomorrow and take on Arsenal in the race for a Premier League top-four finish before flying out to Spain for the second leg.
A Chelsea source said: "Michael Emenalo held an informal interview with Roberto about the permanent job. He is not the only person spoken to, but Emenalo has made it clear that Roberto is to be considered."
Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola and Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho remain the dream appointments, but Emenalo is working hard to devise a Plan B for owner Roman Abramovich.
It is understood that Di Matteo confirmed to Emenalo that he would relish any chance of promotion and underlined his desire to stay in management rather than drop back down to become a No2 or first-team coach. (ANI)
